1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T for sale, needs work!

First thing's first: This car WORKS but does NOT run right now. While in my complex's shared garage, someone smashed the passenger window and stole the stereo and battery. The car was last started on 4/10/2011, and ran fine then. A new battery should have it started just fine, but is NOT included. Thus:

This car MUST be towed from my garage. YOU must supply towing.

I've had some ask if they can bring a battery to start the car and drive it. This *might* work, except:
  • The rear left tire really needs replacing, and shouldn't be driven on much at all, even for a test drive. It works, but it's a plugged puncture and it's bumpy.
As this vehicle has 150,000 miles on it and has been sitting in my garage for 5 months, it is both very bit dusty, a bit broken into, and a bit broken.

This car is being sold AS-IS with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY.

However, I will detail every single mechanical and cosmetic issue that currently exists that I am aware of, for your convenience and for full disclosure:

MAJOR ISSUES:
  • Missing battery (and thus, will not start)
  • SMASHED passenger window; many pieces of glass are STILL IN THE CAR/door as I have not/will not be cleaning that out. (Larger stuff removed, but I can't vacuum or get the stuff in the door.)
  • Missing outside passenger door handle
  • Completely missing stereo/open bay for stereo. (There is still a plastic retention piece, but it's a hole with the cable for now. Standard dual-DIN aftermarket slot.)
  • Rear left tire was punctured and repaired with a kit. Tire holds pressure but the ride is BUMPY and this would need to be replaced pretty much immediately.
  • Suspension is lowered and the struts probably need replacing, as it rides pretty rough now. Was fine when I first got it, but over 5 years, it's worn, and this wears on the improperly cambered tires.
  • Front bumper has a LARGE crack in it. (See pics.)
  • Check engine has sometimes thrown for as long as I've had the car because of the blow-off valve. Its error now shows as throttle position sensor, but this has never been an issue and has literally been on for 5+ years.
MINOR ISSUES:
  • Large crack across windshield
  • Headliner is coming down (currently pinned up so it's out of the way)
  • Window/door lock controls on the driver's side have "fallen" a bit into the door. You can reach them through the holes, but they're no longer flush with the door. (They still work though.)
  • When running, can sometimes sputter at high revs or idle a bit rough at low revs. Was stalling because of the Blow-off valve, so I ported that into the intake to fix that problem.
  • Radio antenna won't go down/may be disconnected.
  • Head cover has a small crack from the oil change guys over-torquing the cover when replacing the gasket. This causes it to burn off a small amount of oil, but it does NOT smoke or smell or anything like that. You just need to put oil into it every other month or so.
  • Some VERY minor dings on the passenger side (hardly visible at all)
  • The passenger side ground effects panel is a bit loose
  • Reverse lights don't seem to work. This appears to be an issue at the shift sensor side, and not a fuse or bulb issue, but not sure.
  • The trunk hatch won't stay open on its own anymore; needs struts.
GOOD STUFF:
  • This car blows ICE COLD AC. It cools down in just minutes. It is insane. Even in Arizona. Absolutely frigid. I have to turn it DOWN in the dead of summer.
  • INCREDIBLY dark tint (6%, you've been warned) on the side and back windows. Might be a pain to get it matched when replacing the passenger side window.
  • 2.5" cat-back exhaust, but not a riced-coffee-can-sound. Just a nice, solid, throaty sound. Has a BOV installed that I routed to close the system, since it was stalling otherwise. Still installed though.
  • Upholstery is in decent shape. No tears or problems or anything, just a bit of dust/dirt.
  • Carpets are in good shape. (The floor mats are done for, but the carpet underneath is decent. Very few marks.)
  • Had a NEW timing belt/balance shaft belt put in by Big Two Mitsubishi up at Superstition Springs < 5,000 miles ago. Along with full synthetic oil change, new motor mounts.
  • Had a completely new clutch put in about 20,000 miles ago, by Big Two.
  • Checked for crankwalk. No signs at all.
  • Turbo gets full boost, though at full revs, the engine will sometimes sputter just a bit.
  • The rims are gorgeous, black 17" aftermarkets. One rim is missing its medallion in the middle, and there are a couple tiny nicks on them. Otherwise, they're great. (I have the wheel locks as well.)
  • Brand new front right tire. (And rear right, I think.)
  • Aftermarket gauge cluster shows accurate boost reader, but the water temp and air/fuel gauges aren't working. (Water temp was never installed; previous owner didn't want to punch in where you have to, and I agree.)
  • New brakes < 10,000 miles ago.
  • Cruise control works.
  • Built-in garage door opener (homelink) works and is really nice.
I've included photos of the car in nicer times (to show the color, tint, and rims off), and the car now, as it sits, dusty in my garage, and broken-into.

CLEAN UP:

The car is empty of my junk, but I will NOT be able to vacuum or fully clear it of the glass. There is glass in the passenger door, and smaller pieces I couldn't get throughout the passenger side that YOU will need to clear out.
It is also dusty as hell. I will not be washing it. (She cleans up REAL nice, though.)

HOW THIS GOES DOWN:

I'm looking for $1,600. First serious $1,600 that can tow her out gets her. Payment must be in cash, no warranties, returns, refunds, etc. This car is very clearly being sold as-is, but for a few thousand, she'd be real nice again.

I will meet with you for you to tow the car out of my (underground) garage. I'm pretty flexible with my schedule, since I only work a few blocks from my garage, so we should be able to work something out.

CAR LOCATION:

The car is located in Tempe, Arizona near University & Mill.

SOLD AS-IS, NO REFUNDS:

You will NOT be able to test-drive it, even if you bring a battery, but you can rest assured that the car ran when the battery was installed. Battery terminals are intact, so it should be a simple affair. You'll want to replace that rear left tire pretty soon, since it is really too bumpy for any distance driving, though I've gotten it up to highway speed on it. It's just VERY uncomfortable, and a repaired tire, hence my reluctance to grant test drives.

TITLE:

Title is in hand, completely free-and-clear. No liens or anything like that. Ready to transfer to you.

QUESTIONS:

Please ask any questions you may have. I'll respond promptly. Serious bidders may be able to schedule a viewing period to take a look, at my discretion. The rims alone are probably worth a good chunk over $500-$1,000, but I'm not in the business of parting this out.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

INTERIOR HAS BEEN CLEANED OUT, but glass still remains. (No trash though. Trash in the photo has been removed!!! Clean upholstery with few stains or marks. Red floor mats are in horrible shape, but mostly saved the carpet underneaht.)
